The Marbella coastline is legendary and offers an outstanding selection of beaches, stretching for over 25 km / 16 miles. Many of the best beaches are close to central Marbella, lined with a boardwalk which is known locally as the Marbella Paseo Maritimo.

Marbella's Golden Mile is home to some of the city's most popular beaches and starts on the western side of Marbella and continues right up to the Puerto Banús harbour, being well-developed and lined with hotels, villas, shops and villas. Popular with locals, Pinillo Beach (Playa El Pinillo) is one of the area's most quiet and undiscovered beaches. With golden sand which stretches for around a mile, Pinillo Beach is known for being clean and suitable for bathing, with a range of amenities nearby. Pinillo Beach lies on the Elviria side of Marbella, with residential areas and hotels nearby.

One of Marbella's premier beaches, Fontanilla Beach is well-maintained and often busy. Beach facilities are good, including bars, beach chairs and umbrellas, lifeguards and a nearby marina. Fontanilla Beach is known for its extremely dark and unusual sand.
